Vintage Beach Babe // Fashion Shoot Out Pt. 1

Last month I participated in a stunning photo shoot put together by the beautiful ladies at Kelli West Photography and Courtney Bowlden Photography. While there, I met some fabulous other photographers, including the FABULOUS Kelli of Kelli West Photography!! You should definitely check her stuff out because she is AH-mazing! Click here to see her beautiful images.

I couldn't decide between soft & light and bold & dramatic, so I have both. Enjoy!

There were four models in the shoot out, so I'll be splitting this up into four posts so I can feature each lovely girl.

Photography Workshop // Utah Couple Photographer

Several months ago, I did a workshop with the wonderful ladies of Pure Photography and Follow Your Art Photography and learned a ton, especially about LIGHT, posing, interacting with clients, and lots more. And I also learned about to get better images straight out of camera (SOOC). So, to prove it to all of you, every single image on here except for one is entirely SOOC. Can you guess which one isn't? :)

Are they all 100% perfect? Nope. But I don't think photography is just about capturing perfection. For me, my photography is about capturing love and finding beauty. Admittedly, it's a little scary showing you my pictures without covering up my mistakes. But when I looked through these pictures, there was nothing I wanted to change. I just loved them as is.

Staples // Utah Groomal Photographer

A few months ago, I asked this adorable couple if they would model for me so I could practice bridal sessions.

So many things about this shoot were disastrous: I completely miscalculated the time we would have the best light, the time it would take to drive to the location, I wasn't as confident with my camera. By the time we got to the location, the sun had set, the light was not very good, and I just was at a loss of what to do. This shoot was definitely a learning experience, but fortunately these two were still amazing and we got some beautiful photos.

Finding the Light in Darkness // Utah Portrait Photographer

It is during our darkest moments
that we must focus to see the light.

Aristotle Onassis

Photography is all about light. Without enough light, it is impossible to achieve perfection. Too much light and your camera can't handle it. So really, photography is all about finding the perfect balance of just enough light.

As a challenge, I went out in complete darkness, trying to find that light. I waited until the sun had long set and searched for the light.
